El Ranchito is a project of the Shield Ranch Foundation operated by its wholly-owned affiliate Camp El Ranchito, LLC in collaboration with El Buen Samaritano and Westcave Preserve.
El Buen Samaritano Episcopal Mission www.elbuen.org El Buen Samaritano Episcopal Mission is a South Austin nonprofit that provides a safety net of integrated programs and services intended to help working-poor families in Greater Austin leverage resources, enabling them to change the future trajectory of their lives for generations to come. El Buen recruits campers for El Ranchito from the families it serves.
Westcave Preserve www.westcave.org Westcave Preserve connects kids and their families to nature by providing experiences and programs that foster the discovery, exploration, and conservation of nature. While our programs are primarily designed for kids, we encourage parents to discover nature with their child. In this way, we believe we can serve as a model to inspire lifelong practices of valuing and enjoying nature. Westcave Preserve supports El Ranchito with nature curriculum and program planning, and hosts field trips and family picnics for each camp session.
The Shield Ranch The Shield Ranch, a 6,800-acre ranch in the Texas Hill Country, recently celebrated its 70th anniversary. The Shield-Ayres family has created the Shield Ranch Foundation to operate the El Ranchito camp program. The Shield Ranch hosts the camp and the Foundation provides significant funding for camp operations.
