Dear 2011 Corps Members,

Another great summer session at El Ranchito has passed and I sure am missing you guys!

As our friend Ben would say, we had some gnarly adventures together... the awesome evacuation party leading into an exciting day of high ropes in Wimberley and swimming in the Blanco River; our weekend at Bamberger Ranch checking out the bats and swimming in Madrone Lake (not to mention the incredible conversations we had as a community there); canoeing on the Colorado River; and horseback riding at the Bee Cave Riding Center.

The work we accomplished was impressive...from rock steps and retaining walls along the Balcony Loop Trail at Shield Ranch to corridor clearing at Westcave Preserve and berm buildng at Bamberger Ranch Preserve.  The service project that you all led with the 8th and 9th graders from Nature Discovery Camp was inspiring.  It's one of my favorite parts of our session, getting to see your amazing leadership and mentoring skills in action!

It was tough saying goodbye to our seniors this summer.  To Lee, Victor, Claire and Sandra A: have a great senior year, and thank you for all the positive energy, beautiful ideas, kindness and laughter you have shared with the Corps Members and staff of El Ranchito over the years.  I hope you all will be able to come back and be a part of our community as Junior Counselors!!!

Already looking foward to next year,

Jody Karr-Silaski*
